Welcome to Diamonds in the Ruff, an organization that focuses on helping homeless companion animals find new homes.
The mission of Diamonds in the Ruff is to improve the lives of companion animals throughout the CSRA and resolve the pet overpopulation problem through fundraising, education and promoting the importance of spay/neuter. Our goal is to work with local agencies in the CSRA to become a no-kill region.
Pet overpopulation in the CSRA is at a crisis level. Every year thousands upon thousands of healthy, adoptable, companion animals are euthanized at our local municipal shelters. Additionally, the current state of the economy has forced owners to surrender their pets because they can no longer afford to feed or care for them. The rescue groups in our community are overwhelmed and continue to work tirelessly to take in as many as possible but much more is needed.
In January 2011, Diamonds in the Ruff, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, was formed as a fundraising vehicle to help support these groups in their dayto day work. Additionally, our mission is to raise awareness of the importance of spay/neuter as a means of reducing the enormous number of homeless animals in our community, and to work with local & state officials towards a permanent resolution to this ever-growing problem. With your help, we will make that dream a reality, one step at a time.
